U.S. Army considers using GPT-4 for war advice

The US Army Research Lab is trying out AI chatbots, like GPT-4, in war game simulations to help plan battles.

During a test, these chatbots suggested battle plans for a game called StarCraft II. GPT-4 did better than other AI models tested, but they all still had problems.

The Department of Defense (DoD) has found 180 ways AI could be used in the military. They're teaming up with companies like Palantir and Scale AI to make it happen.

Experts warn about using AI for military decisions because of challenges like reliability and fairness.
