New AI Tools Arrive in Windows 11

Microsoft released a new version of its Copilot AI, along with a fresh set of AI features for Windows 11 on Copilot Plus computers. The company also announced the release of the Windows 11 24H2 update for all users.

One of the new AI features in Windows 11, called "Click to Do" activates with the Windows key and a mouse click. It scans the screen and provides shortcuts like Bing visual search, background blurring or removal, shopping assistant, and more.

"Click to Do" works on any app or page.

The Windows search feature has faced plenty of criticism from users, but Microsoft is finally improving it with AI. The updated search feature lets you look for items using natural language, even if you don't know the file names. It can also detect typos and search for objects in images.

The new search feature will first be available in File Explorer, but Microsoft plans to expand it to Windows Search and Settings Search as well. This will allow you to find the settings you need using natural language.

Another new feature is "Super Resolution" in the Photos app, which helps you enhance the resolution of low-quality images up to eight times. You can adjust the level of enhancement and compare the output with the original file.

Microsoft uses neural processing units to complete this task in just a few seconds.

The Paint app also got AI features, including "Generative Fill" and "Intelligent Erase". You can mark an object to remove it or ask the software to add content to an image.

These AI features are only available for Copilot Plus computers with compatible Qualcomm, Intel, and AMD processors and will be released in November.

The major Windows 11 2024 update, officially known as Windows 11 24H2, has also been rolled out to the public.

This update is available for all Windows 11-compatible PCs, though not all features may be available right away. Due to a phased release, it might take some time for all users to receive the update. Key new features include:

  • File Explorer has updated the Home tab layout with shared files.

  • You can create a new tab by right-clicking an existing one.

  • The right-click menu now has improved text for various options.

  • You can create compressed files in .7z and .TAR formats.

  • Directly view your Android phone's file system from File Explorer.

  • A new version of the Outlook app is released.

  • The standalone Copilot app has been updated.

  • The new "Energy Saver" mode replaces "Battery Saver"

  • You can set the mouse scroll direction from the settings.

  • Support for Wi-Fi 7 hardware has been added to Windows.

  • A new PRISM emulation layer improves the running of x86 apps on ARM architecture.

  • Phone Link app has been integrated with the Start menu.

AI Videos Just Got Wilder

Pika Labs unveils AI video generation model Pika 1.5 with new dynamic effects

  • New "Pikaeffects" feature adds effects like exploding, melting, and shattering.

  • Users can generate five-second video clips with realistic movements and cinematic effects.

  • Both free and paid users can access Pika 1.5, though creating each video now costs 15 credits.

This update elevates video creativity by offering dynamic effects that push the limits of AI-generated content, making it easier for users to create high-quality, engaging visuals for personal or professional use.
