“Microsoft” partners with “Mistral” in second AI deal beyond OpenAI

Microsoft and Mistral, a French AI startup, have entered into a new multiyear partnership valued at €2 billion. This partnership includes Microsoft taking a minor stake in the 10-month-old AI company, just over a year after Microsoft invested over $10 billion into its OpenAI partnership.
As part of this deal, Mistral’s open and commercial language models will be available on Microsoft’s Azure AI platform, making it the second company to offer a commercial language model on Azure after OpenAI. The focus of the partnership will be on the development and deployment of next-generation large language models.
