Microsoft, OpenAI plan $100 billion data-center project
Microsoft and OpenAI plan a huge $100 billion project called "Stargate".
It's for a supercomputer with lots of AI chips to boost OpenAI's new models.
Stargate might cost over $100 billion, which is way more than big data centers today.
Microsoft could pay for it. They hope to start in 2028.
Stargate will work with AI chips from different brands, so they won't rely only on Nvidia's GPUs.
Making a data center 100 times bigger than usual needs lots of money, power, and time. Stargate shows how serious OpenAI and Microsoft are about getting to AGI, no matter the cost.
