Microsoft Invests $1.5B in G42
Microsoft agreed to invest $1.5 billion in G42, an AI company based in Abu Dhabi. Before, G42 was being looked into by the U.S. because of its connections to China.
Microsoft gets a small piece of G42 and a spot on its board. G42 will now use Microsoft's cloud to work on AI stuff.
This deal needed talks with the US government. They were worried about G42's ties to China.
At first, this deal seems like a regular investment. But behind the scenes, it's a big move in the global competition over AI. The U.S. is trying to limit China's role, and by teaming up with G42, it's also gaining a foothold in the Gulf region.
