Apple Drops AI-Powered iOS 18.1 Beta!

Apple releases beta of iOS 18.1, introducing AI-powered features

  • Apple has launched the iOS 18.1 beta alongside the iPhone 16, featuring major AI updates.

  • Siri now has enhanced conversational abilities and a fresh visual interface.

  • New AI tools include writing assistance, email summarization, and photo editing, with more features coming soon.

This update marks a significant step in Apple's AI advancements, offering personalized experiences through Siri and other tools. Early adopters should be cautious, as beta software often comes with bugs.

Galaxy's "Circle to Search" Solves It All

Samsung’s latest user interface update brings a range of new features designed to boost productivity with the help of Galaxy AI, making tasks easier for users.

Recently, the company showcased how these features work.

The new AI-powered tools, available in version 6.1.1 of OneUI, focus on making note-taking simpler and searching faster, offering Galaxy users a more seamless experience.

One standout feature is "Sketch to Image" which quickly turns rough sketches into AI-generated images. This feature shines on devices with stylus support, such as the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S Ultra series.

Another useful addition is "Circle to Search" powered by Google. This tool lets users draw a circle around any area of a photo to search for similar images or even solve math problems.

Simply snap a picture, circle the problem, and AI will generate a solution.

Samsung has also upgraded its note-taking capabilities with "Note Assist".

This feature can convert recorded audio into text or even create summaries of key points from the recording.

At the moment, this feature is only available in Samsung's note-taking app.

Lastly, the update introduces fast translation tools, including a feature called "PDF Overlay Translation" which allows users to translate PDF documents directly in the app.

This feature is accessible through Samsung’s note-taking app and works via the My File app, pre-installed on Samsung devices.

These AI features come preloaded on Samsung’s latest foldables like the Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 and are also available on flagship models like the Galaxy S24 and S23 series.

Even selected mid-range devices, such as the Galaxy A55 and A35, will receive these capabilities.

Samsung plans to roll out these AI-powered features to over 200 million devices worldwide.

Microsoft Taps Nuclear Power for AI

Microsoft Signs Deal to Revive Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant for AI Data Centers

  • Microsoft signed a power purchase agreement with Constellation to revive the Three Mile Island nuclear plant by 2028, pending regulatory approval.

  • The plant will be renamed the Crane Clean Energy Center and will generate 837 megawatts, enough to power over 800,000 homes.

  • This deal aligns with Microsoft’s goal to power data centers with clean energy by 2025, aiming to decarbonize its operations as AI-related energy demands rise.

This marks a significant move towards clean energy in tech, particularly as AI development increases energy needs. By reviving a nuclear power plant, Microsoft seeks to reduce its carbon footprint while securing reliable energy for future data center expansions.
