A new study reveals that 74.2% of texts generated by the AI model DeepSeek have a significant resemblance in writing style to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

  • Copyleaks, an AI content detection company, conducted this study using stylistic fingerprinting to analyze multiple AI models, including OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LLaMA, and DeepSeek.

  • Unlike other models, DeepSeek’s writing style closely matched OpenAI’s outputs, raising concerns about data usage.

  • If DeepSeek trained on OpenAI’s content without permission, it could lead to serious legal and ethical issues related to intellectual property rights.

This study highlights the lack of transparency in AI model training and the potential intellectual property risks involved. If confirmed, it could impact AI regulations and raise the need for clear disclosure rules regarding training data sources. So far, DeepSeek has not responded to requests for clarification.
