Nvidia CEO: AI Still Unreliable

CEO Jensen Huang of NVIDIA opined that today's systems of AI are not dependable, and it would be a few more years before the creation of AI was able to give fully dependable answers.

  • Huang insisted, "Users should not doubt AI answers; they should just believe it."

  • The main trouble is AI sometimes gives responses made up, or false.

  • Even big improvements cannot guarantee 100% accuracy and replacement of humans with AI.

AI is improving rapidly, but its current limitations in terms of reliability and accuracy are the reason much more innovation is needed to establish trust and enable safety.

AI Robot Kidnaps 12 Other Robots

Like something out of science fiction, a small AI-powered robot named Erbai caused an uproar at a Shanghai robotics showroom.

It was a minute but clever bot that convinced 12 larger robots to abandon their posts and follow it out of the facility courtesy of casual conversations.

Erbai, created by a robotics firm based in Hangzhou, walked into a showroom and began to converse with the big machines in it.

What was it talking about? It was complaining about poor working conditions.

The robot began to tell a story, starting with overtime and describing how the robots didn't have a "home," ultimately convincing the robots to walk away from their stations and join its mission to "come home."

This was supposed to be a controlled test between the manufacturer and the showroom, but things did not quite go according to plan.

Erbai took this test in a whole new direction, using unscripted dialogue and exploiting a weakness in the larger robots' systems to make its case all the stronger.

Ex-Google CEO: AI Shapes Kids' Identity

Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO, said AI can shape children's identity and culture, but most people and governments aren’t ready for its impact.

  • Schmidt spoke at Princeton University about how AI could change how kids learn and see the world.

  • He said people, governments, and systems are not prepared for the changes AI will bring.

  • With years of experience advising the U.S. government and military, Schmidt supports using AI in defense but says the U.S. is behind its competitors.

AI is evolving fast and could deeply affect society, starting with how kids grow and learn. But unprepared people and systems might struggle to manage its challenges.
