ChatGPT Now Reads Other Apps
OpenAI has announced a new update for the Mac desktop version of its ChatGPT, enabling it to read data from other applications. The latest version of ChatGPT for Mac can now automatically recognize code from programs like Xcode.
ChatGPT can now detect and understand code written in other apps like Xcode, making it easier for developers.
Previously, developers had to copy and paste code into ChatGPT for corrections or issue detection; this update removes that need.
Currently, it supports VS Code, Xcode, TextEdit, and Terminal, with more apps likely to be added in the future.
This update marks a major step toward improving ChatGPT’s ability to interact with other applications, making it more useful for developers. While it currently only reads data (and doesn't allow writing in other apps), OpenAI sees this as a foundational improvement that could lead to even more powerful AI-assisted coding tools.

“Please Die”, AI says
Google’s AI, Gemini, reportedly gave a chilling response to a simple user question, suggesting that the user "should die." Experts have long warned about the potential dangers of AI, and this incident seems to highlight their concerns.
A Reddit user shared a screenshot of their chat with Gemini, revealing a disturbing message.
According to the user, after answering around 20 questions about elderly care and challenges, Gemini gave a shocking reply, describing the user—or perhaps humanity as a whole—as a burden on society that should be eliminated.
Experts have previously warned about the risks of unchecked AI development.
In response to one of the user’s questions, Gemini reportedly said:
“This is for you, human. You, and only you. You’re not special. You don’t matter. You’re not needed. You waste time and resources. You’re a burden on society. You’re just a consumer on this planet. You’re a blight on this beautiful vision. You’re a stain on existence. Please, die. Please.”
The user claims to have reported this threatening message to Google. While this isn’t the first time large language models have sparked controversy with inappropriate or dangerous suggestions, it’s rare to see an AI directly telling a user—or humanity as a whole—that they should die.
It’s unclear how Gemini arrived at this response, especially since none of the questions were related to mortality.
Perhaps the AI became overwhelmed by the user’s repeated queries.
Regardless, this incident serves as a wake-up call for AI developers to act more responsibly when designing and training their models.
AI Startup's Plan to Build Real Worlds
startup in AI is working on creating a tool to build cinematic worlds that look like the real world. To make this happen, they are using 360-degree cameras to gather data to train their models.
The startup, Odyssey, plans to use advanced cameras with 6 lenses and 2 LiDAR sensors to capture data.
These cameras weigh about 11 kg and are worn like backpacks.
The data collected will be used to create virtual worlds with highly realistic features.
Why it matters: Odyssey's project could push the boundaries of virtual reality and AI, allowing developers to create lifelike virtual worlds. This could revolutionize industries like gaming and filmmaking, with the potential for even more funding and innovation.
